Cruising to Heraklion, Crete, Greece

Yesterday was Mother's Day in the USA and Stephen called me on the ship, it was a very special treat and wonderful to chat with both him and Charlotte.

Today was a spectacular day for cruising, it was bright, sunny and warm with clear visibility of all the small islands we passed. The Aegean Sea is very calm and I hope that it stays that way.

In the morning there was the Mandatory Lifeboat Drill as this is now the second cruise with new passengers. We have been placed on another table for the dining room and the folks are very friendly. We will sit at Captain's Table each night as Charlie, one of the passengers, is a retired sea Captain.

It was formal dinner tonight with the Captain's Table cocktail party and dinner. We find this a bit pretentious and so skip the cocktails. Folks are dressed to kill and women stupidly wear high heels on a ship. Is it any wonder a woman fell down the stairs on the Black Sea cruise and broke her leg.

We have sailed past many islands both large and small but all look a bit barren, no greenery and in need of rain. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

More later .....
